Plastic makes it possible January 9, 2010

Hi folks,

Just a quick update today. I came across an interesting article regarding the plastic used in water bottles and other components. This plastic, commonly referred to as BPA has been indicated to be harmful as it is a hormone mimic. BPA stands for bisphenol A, and is used as a plasticizer and can liner. It is cheap, durable and versatile, but it is also an endocrine disruptor.  The FDA has ruled that BPA is safe and that manufacturers can keep using it , but some believe that any exposure, particularly to those of a young age, can be detrimental to overall health and development.  The city of Chicago is one of the strongest critics of BPA- in fact, they were the first to ban bottles containing the plastic in their jurisdiction.   You can read the article here:
